Vinyl Chloride Found on California Site
The California Department of Toxic Substances Control has been watching the cleanup of soil contaminated with cancer causing Vinyl Chloride. It will take years before it is safe for humans.
The site of the contamination, once considered remote, is a 1,000 acre piece of land near the town of Santa Clarita. Once a munitions manufacturer known as Bermite, later known as Whittaker-Bermite, the grounds served as testing ground for toxic products including vinyl chloride.
